Kumquat Liqueur 200ml, Lazaris Distillery & Artisan Sweets
The traditional liqueur of Corfu is produced by extracting the rare citrus fruit in alcohol, in the traditional way that has been passed down from generation to generation:
The fruits are carefully collected from the orchards, cleaned, washed, and placed with alcohol in stainless steel tanks, to give the alcohol the flavor, aroma and color of the fruit. The syrup is then added to make the liqueur. Following is the filtering and bottling of the liqueur.
The story of the Corfu distillery Lazaris Distillery & Artisan Sweets dates back to 1924. It was then that the famed kumquat, the tiny citrus fruit with its wonderful aroma, began to grow on the island of Corfu.
For eleven years Constantine Lazaris and his team have been passionately pursuing the island's culinary tradition with the aim of introducing the modern, global consumer to the authentic tastes of another era.
Following the local recipe they produce the traditional Corfu drink, the kumquat liqueur. At the same time they are inspired by the other agricultural products of the island and make handmade pastries reviving the flavors and aromas of the past.
